2012 RACE SCHEDULE

A look at a few possible races for next season.

*note - the asteriks represent races I'm already registered for.

HMRRC Winter Series 10K* - 1/1-3/1  [Albany, NY]

As a member of the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC), my $15 yearly membership entitles me to participate in a bunch of free races throughout the year. There is a series of 5 winter races that seem to give me a great opportunity to get my ass outdoors, off the treadmill and give my calves a real workout. The first one is this weekend, and I'm thinking about getting out there and just using it as an opportunity for a training run (no dreams of PRs b/c those aspirations could lead to injury).

Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run - 4/1 [Washington, DC] 

Boston Athletic Association 5K - 4/1?  [Boston, MA]

Albany YMCA 5K - 5/?  [Albany, NY]

Set my 5K PR here last year against an OSU grad. Lets kick some ass and do it again.

Cooperstown Triathlon - 5/26  [Cooperstown, NY]

Boyne City Independence Day Run 10K - 7/4

Another purely fun-run. At this time of year I always find myself vacationing in northern Michigan near Traverse City, and I like nothing more on vacation than eating, sleeping and exercising entirely at my leisure. Last year I brought my bike, went for three rides, three runs and a handful of open-water swims. I also ate my brains out. This year will at least give me a nice goal-race to look forward to... maybe. Or, I'll just do my regularly scheduled swim/bike/run/eat/sleep/DRINK routine.

Boilermaker 15k - 7/8  [Utica, NY]

It'd be fun to take a better crack at the race this year, except it may fall during a vacation. We'll just have to wait and see!

Nautica NYC Triathlon - 8/5  [New York, NY]

The swim on this race is pretty awesome, which suits me well b/c that is by far my weakest part. I just hope I get lucky and get chosen from the lottery. DIDN'T MAKE IT THROUGH LOTTERY... DAMNIT.

Steelman Triathlon - 8/5? [Quakertown, PA]

Nation's Triathlon - 9/9 [Washington, DC]
I'd love to take another crack at this race... loved it and it would be a great excuse to visit DC.

Lake George Triathlon - 9/3  [Lake George, NY]

Olympic distance triathlon

HITS Triathlon Series - 9/22-23  [Cooperstown, NY]

Beginner, Sprint, Olympic or Half distances.

Turkey Trot 5K/10K - 11/22  [Pennsylvania]

Time to nail a late-season PR.

Albany Last Run 5K - 12/17

Again, slated to be the swan-song of my season, this cozy little 5K will be the victory lap of what I hope to be a very successful, injury-free season. Fingers crossed!!
